VALENCIA, CA – June 2, 2008 – H2scan Corporation, in conjunction with Westech Industrial
Ltd. of Canada, announces their participation in The Global Petroleum Show in Calgary,
Canada, June 10-12, 2008. Situated
in booth # 1885, H2Scan will be giving a live demonstration of their HY-OPTIMA™
700 hydrogen-specific, real-time, in-line process monitor.
Using a hydrogen-specific sensing element and its patented chip-on-flex technology
developed by H2scan, the HY-OPTIMA is the only solid-state sensor technology that
accurately measures hydrogen concentrations from
0 to 100% H2 on a volume basis
in multiple gas backgrounds – nitrogen, oxygen, and inert gases. The system operates
in process gas temperatures of –20°C to +100°C and in 95% RH environments and handles
flow rates of 0.1 to 50slpm and pressures up to 100 psi gauge.
An onboard temperature sensor maintains the sensor at a constant temperature
to maximize stability. The system offers
interface flexibility including 0-5Volt, 4-20mA outputs with optional ASCII, RS-232,
and RS-422 serial buses. H2Scan also
offers the HY-OPTIMA
1700 series which is both ATEX and cLC “Intrinsically Safe”
Certified.
The HY-OPTIMA 700 series, including the 730 and 740,with its cost-effective integration,
is ideal for petroleum refineries, hydrogen production and petrochemical applications where real-time measurements can enhance plant efficiency. The system, which is
calibrated on-site, offers plants in-line, real-time measurements for petroleum
refineries, hydrogen production at petrochemical plants, chlorine producers, gas
producers, nuclear and fossil fuel power plants, semiconductor and electronics manufacturers,
hydrogen refueling stations, etc. These
measurements can include in-line monitoring of H2 feed, process gas, feed-to-stack,
recycle gas, and stack gas (vent) H2 concentrations, plus real-time backup to GC/GC–MS/MS,
and off-line monitoring of H2 in grab samples.
Prabhu Soundarrajan, Chief Scientist of H2scan, will be presenting a paper on “In-line
Hydrogen-Specific Sensors for Operations and Cost Reduction Measures in the Petroleum
Industry” on Wednesday, June 11th during the afternoon Operating and
Capital Cost Optimization Session.
The H2scan hydrogen-specific technology used in the HY-ALERTA™500 Handheld Leak
Detector and the HY-ALERTA™600 Area Monitor will also be demonstrated at booth #
1885. These unique and dependable
products are being used by companies worldwide to ensure the safety of their workers
and their property.
Headquartered in
Valencia, California
and formed in 2002, H2scan Corporation is the leading provider of high-performance
hydrogen-specific sensor systems that provide accurate monitoring and control functions
for a wide range of applications. The U.S. National Laboratory at Sandia developed
the fundamental technology of H2scan sensor systems. H2scan has significantly improved upon this technology through
United States
patents and advanced manufacturing techniques.

About H2scan (www.h2scan.com)
H2scan is the leading provider of high performance hydrogen-specific sensor systems
which provide accurate monitoring and control functions for a wide range of applications,
including control systems, safety monitoring and alarm systems. H2scan also
provides portable, hand-held configurations for easy leak detection and monitoring.
H2scan's hydrogen-specific sensing systems based on a patented "Chip on a flex"
technology are able to detect and measure hydrogen without false readings or expensive
support equipment required. The sensing systems are able to detect hydrogen
in air down to 15 ppm concentration over a wide range of temperatures without cross-sensitivities
to other gases. The ability to operate in the presence or absence of oxygen with
no interference with CO, sulfur, or chlorine separates H2scan from all other in-line
measuring technologies.
The company's solid-state technology was developed at the U.S. Department of Energy
Sandia National Laboratory and is only available commercially through H2scan.
H2scan Corporation is headquartered in
Valencia, California
, and was formed in 2002
with capital assistance from the Ravinia Venture Fund and Vancouver-based Chrysalix
Energy Limited Partnership, which includes Ballard Power Systems Inc., Shell Hydrogen,
The BOC Group, BASF Venture Capital and Mitsubishi Corporation.
