Senior Electrical Engineer

H2scan is seeking a senior level electrical engineer to join our product development team and help to continually enhance the company's product portfolio.

 

H2scan is a manufacturer of hydrogen-specific gas sensors and systems for customers in the refining, chemical processing, semiconductor, metal processing, transportation and energy sectors as well as government and university research laboratories. Using non-consumable solid-state technology, H2scan produces world class sensors and systems for the reliable monitoring of hydrogen levels in process gas streams as well as the ambient  in areas that utilize or store hydrogen.

 

Job Functions

  • Develop and analyze precision analog circuits for electronic instrumentation including: capacitive and resistive sensing, control loop and power distribution.
  • Analysis and Design of digital signal processing circuits, firmware and software for sensor signal conditioning.
  • Circuit design and schematic capture, component selection and physical layout.
  • Analysis for worst case tolerancing and potential failure modes (FMEA)
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of prototype products and circuits.
  • Work with other design engineering disciplines and applications engineers to provide optimum designs on a rapid schedule.
  • Work with manufacturing during new products introduction and troubleshooting failure modes for existing products.
  • Work with suppliers for specification and fabrication of new designs and existing products.
  • Work with customers to provide engineering support of new applications and existing products.

 

Required Experience

  • 10 plus years of related experience. 
  • Experience taking a project from concept through production.
  • Embedded system firmware development using C and assembly language.
  • Digital signal processing algorithm development.
  • Familiar with digital control interfaces CAN, HART, FutureBus, DeviceNet.
  • Control loop design and implementation (analog and/or digital).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work well with others in a team environment.
  • Proficient in use of OrCAD (schematic capture and simulation) and Microsoft Office and Project software.

 

Desired Experience

  • Techniques for precision measurement of capacitance and resistance.
  • Techniques to maintain accuracy over time (drift management/compensation).
  • Microprocessor and logic design experience.
  • Analog circuit design (Filter, Peak Detector, Amplifier, etc.)
  • Power distribution and voltage regulator design.
  • DFSS; DFM training and experience.
  • Design of products for hazardous locations especially intrinsic safety.
  • PCB layout using OrCAD.

 

Required Education

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or engineering physics from an accredited institution.  MSEE/MS-Physics with significant graduate level research or the equivalent in advanced development environments is preferred.
