The HY-ALERTA 500:
Protecting lives means being able to locate
and find a hydrogen leak as quickly as possible

H2scan's HY-ALERTA 500 Handheld Hydrogen Leak Detector is the industry's most versatile, portable hydrogen leak detector. It is able to respond to the widest range of hydrogen gas concentrations without the need of expensive peripheral equipment. Generally, it is used when direct human oversight over potential leaks in a process is required.

The model uses a unique visual system of four LEDs placed along the sensor probe tip to indicate four orders of magnitude of the concentration of hydrogen gas for fast and intuitive awareness of potential danger. In addition to this tier of LEDs, an additional LED signifies the detection of peak levels of hydrogen which points to a leak’s location.

The HY-ALERTA 500 also has a display monitor that provides a precise readout of the amount of hydrogen present above the background gas, as well as a bar graph indicating hydrogen levels ranging from 0.0015% up to 100% by volume.

The HY-ALERTA 500 protects users from potentially explosive mixes of hydrogen leaking into the air. Hydrogen gas tends to disperse readily and form an ignitable mixture with air, becoming flammable at only 4% by volume. This characteristic makes hydrogen much more dangerous to work with compared to other gases like methane or propane.
